Outstanding Individual Volunteer of the Year Award

Submitting Nominations

Purpose: To recognize an individual ALA or Local Legal Auxiliary member who most effectively increases both member and public understanding of the law and the American legal system.


Award: An appropriate memento will be given the honoree at the Mid-Year meeting of the ALA.


Deadline: Online nominations must be submitted no later than October 15th.


Eligibility: Any person or organization may nominate an individual member of ALA or a Local Legal Auxiliary. Self-nominations will be accepted.

Entry Rules

  1. Nominee must have paid individual ALA or Local Legal Auxiliary membership dues for the current year.  (ALA membership dues are accepted at any time during the year.)
  2. A one (1) page summary, providing details of activities and describing projects and /or actions which prompted the nomination, must be included with the application.
  3. Supporting documents such as newspaper clippings, letters of recommendation, pictures, etc., may be attached to the application.
  4. Entries and supporting documents will not be returned.
