Austin Adoption Day

To make the official adoption experience magical for abused/neglected children from Travis County, Texas. The Gardiner Betts Juvenile Justice Center is transformed into the Land of Oz

2. Columbus Bar Association Alliance/ Sharon Chappelear 

CHOICES 

To help victims of domestic violence in central Ohio by raising funds to build a new shelter 

3. Grand Rapids Lawyers Alliance/ Jeanne Skilton

Local Support for Mock Trials

To bring law-related civic education to students in Kent County, Michigan, by promoting students'  participation in Mock Trials

4. Houston Bar Association Auxiliary/ Sue Bennett

Upgrade HBAA Website 

To increase/retain members by updating/making the Website relevant 

5. Indian River County Lawyers Auxiliary/ Sandi Harpring

De pendency Court Project 

To help make required court appearances for abused/neglected children in Indian River County,  Florida a less stressful and more positive experience by providing toys, books and activities at the court

6. Kalamazoo Lawyers Alliance/Alice Gordon 

Job Training Skills for Juvenile Home Residences  

To facilitate a successful transition from the juvenile home residence to the community by providing  Job readiness skills for juveniles in preparation to returning to the community 

   
7. National Capital Lawyers Auxiliary/Evelyn Albright 

National Capital Lawyers Auxiliary Law Day Essay Contest

To promote understanding and appreciation of civics and good citizenship by an essay contest for  District of Columbia fifth grade students culminating in a private Award Ceremony and Reception at the U.S. Supreme Court 

8. Saginaw County Lawyers Auxiliary/Mary Ann Farris

YMCA Michigan Youth in Government

To promote learning about government by high school students in Saginaw County, Michigan, by  funding two high school’s involvement in the YMCA Michigan Youth in Government Program

9. The Ingham County Bar Auxiliary/Sue Patterson 

 The Probate Court Family Division staff who volunteer with the Child Benefit Fund.

This year 20 children were "adopted" by ICBA members who fulfilled their Christmas Wish List. A contribution made by ICBA also meets special needs of children for camp scholarships and school supplies.  This year ICBA also supported Highfields, an organization that supports families in crisis. The donation was directed to the educational sponsorship of youth who find this supportive organization a way to separate themselves from a destructive lifestyle.

A total of $5,000 was awarded through the ALA Auxiliary Support Program!
